The piglets look great. What breed are they?
Richard
Richard,
The piglets are a Hampshire x Yorkshire cross. They are a bit like a Saddleback pig in the UK, only no lop ears–very similar genetics. Their black color should help them keep from getting sunburned.
Have you ever thought about breeding your own?
Anthony,
I continually think of controlling “the means of production”. I am tempted to keep one of this year’s gilts and breed her as a sow in the autumn.
However, in our current set up, I don’t really have the space, or shelter to do this right yet. Hopefully soon though.
