I have been writing alot and thinking about self suffieciency increasingly. However, I think this takes the cake. John Coffer is living a 19th century life in rural New York State. He takes Tintype photographs which are gaining popularity, or rather–ragaining. Far from shuning modernity totally it looks like he has found some sort of happy medium–at least for him. The real question, though, is–is he ahead of the curve on this one? Will there be a time when rural simplicity will regain momentum as a way to flee the fractured society of the Metropolis? Will we wake up some day and realize that we can have more with less around us? Or will we be forced to live this way due to some calamity? Ironic that I discovered this article in the online edition of Wired Magazine, no?
