Hells Bells

What is it about Reality TV that people can’t come back to reality once their done watching it?  Hell’s Kitchen is inciting quite the heated views. Here is a typical example: "Tonight I’m in my hotel room watching "Hells Kitchen" It must be the single most contrived reality show I’ve seen. Someone should do us all a favor and take a baseball bat to Chef Ramsey’s head. That would be riveting television." Well, Mochi, perhaps some one feels that way about you. . . . It’s only tv people. Do a bit of research if it bother’s you that much–Hell’s Kitchen is a view into a world most of us are only on the outside of. Diners don’t want to know what goes on in the back of the house. It is hot, dangerous. The cooks are underpaid, tired.  There is blood, sweat and tears. I can’t think of any other industry where the clients expect so much from the situation that they are willing to act irrationally towards the very individuals who are doing their utmost to serve them the best. If customers behaved towards Microsoft the way they behave in a restaurant when their dinner is late, cold, undercooked, pricey or full of viruses, Bill Gates would have been sweeping streets long ago.

Moron Pizza

Pizza seems to be in the air.  Vegetariana has come up against Gordon Ramsay over the issue of pizza. Ramsay’s played a cruel joke on a vegetarian and has become a pariah once again–which seems to be his favorite place: media’s man we love to hate.

Gastrocast #11

Try not to think of this as one long show, but two short shows joined up for your convenience.

Gastrocast #11 is a blather-fest with a happy and delicious ending. I begin by talking about work prospects, Hell’s Kitchen, and self-sufficiency. In the kitchen we make a Vacherin of Strawberries & Wine Syrup.
