As the world gets increasingly smaller through the internet, blogging and podcasting it is good to see that people are entering a dialectic about how to move this international, collective communication effort forward. Enter Global Voices and their Manifesto. Global Voice’s efforts on easing the flow of international discussions and communication is extreamly interesting. There are so many people, communities, countries where the free speech we take as a given is an impossability. This sounds like a whole new area where Podcasting could be the champion. A bit like Radio Free Europe (my father is probably still on a KGB watchlist for his participation in launching multi-language pamphlets from Germany in the 50’s via weather balloons while working for a US Cereal Company–truth is stranger than fiction.(The link is about the director, the program, but not my father. . . ))
Clark Boyd has lead the way with his podcast/interview from the report he prepared for The World. (Only problem is the report is in wma format, not mp3). Thanks to Howard for pointing me in the direction of the Global Voices website.
